Thomas Rongen's squad will be favored in every game except possibly the final but can't afford to lose concentration.

The backbone of the organization
Every successful front office is bolstered by a backbone of employees that never receive credit due their work. D.C. United is no different.

Their support is critical for others to complete their daily duties.
It?s time to Unite
Before the MLS team that would play in the Nation?s Capital had a name, Kevin Payne, Stephen Zack and Betty D?Anjolell sat in a lunch room discussing what the club?s future name should be. Ryan Mallett Miffed About Questions Concerning Drug Use Allegations
Filed under: NFL Draft, NFL Quarterbacks, NFL Analysis

But just as he seemed to be finding his rhythm in his answers and touted the quality of competition he faced in the Southeastern Conference as another plus, he was pressed a little more on the allegations and how he's dealing with them and he insisted he wasn't going to talk about them anymore. His session came to an abrupt end when another reporter tried to explain that the questions aren't going to go away until he gives a definitive answer as he said he didn't want to and walked off.
At 6-foot-7 and 253 pounds, Mallett is slightly bigger than Newton (6-5, 248) and has perhaps the biggest arm of all of the quarterbacks. Some scouts have been concerned about his accuracy, but he shot back that the fact that he has thrown for more than 7,000 yards and 60 touchdowns in two seasons should speak for itself. He also claimed he can throw the ball more than 80 yards.
Preseason another small step forward for DC
WASHINGTON ? Though D.C. United captured the Carolina Challenge Cup in Charleston, S.C., on Saturday, the team isn't about to get carried away.
Last year, the club managed the same feat, only to see the regular season go south right from the start. That's something the coaching staff has raised on more than one occasion.
?I mentioned it,? head coach Ben Olsen told reporters. ?Once or twice ? or three times."

The Throw-In: MLS in 2011 is bigger and badder
I was on a flight back home from New York last week, wrapping up several days in the MLSsoccer.com offices, when I had one of those rare fan-boy moments while absent-mindedly flipping through the latest issue of American Way magazine ? that fine bastion of in-flight info-tainment.
Working for the league, I don?t get as many of those moments anymore ? it?s professionally wise to sit back and enjoy the soccer in front of you in an objective way, trying to stay levelheaded. But sometimes, man, you just get a little giddy.

?We will win championships and serve the community.?
That statement is prevalent in the halls of RFK Stadium.
