Michael Young Explains Trade Request, Says He's 'Been Misled'

Michael YoungAbout the only thing Michael Young and the Rangers can agree on right now is that he wants out of Texas. Rangers brass discussed the rapidly deteriorating situation between them and their longest-tenured player on a conference call with the media Monday and characterized Young's recent trade request as a "change of heart."

Young, who has likely watched his playing time decrease dramatically in recent weeks with Texas' signing of Adrian Beltre and trade for Mike Napoli, doesn't quite see things that way.

"The suggestion that I had a change of heart and asked for a trade is a manipulation of the truth," Young told FOXSports.com Monday. "I asked for a trade because I've been misled and manipulated and I'm sick of it.

"Other than that, I'm not going to reveal any details about how this process unfolded. It's not my nature to start blasting people publicly when I don't think it's necessary. I don't think it's fair or productive for anybody, particularly my teammates and coaching staff.
