o. The Cardinals got Jake Westbrook from the Indians at the trade deadline hoping he would boost their playoff hopes. That plan hasn't worked out, but there is interest from both sides in seeing if Westbrook can help in 2011 and beyond, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
"I'm definitely going to be open-minded about pretty much everything," Westbrook told the Post-Dispatch. "If they had interest, I've definitely enjoyed my time here. I've gotten to know the guys well. The organization is definitely one that everybody knows about, that I've certainly heard a lot about, and now, firsthand, I've gotten to see that everybody was right."
o. Boston Red Sox bench coach DeMarlo Hale could be next in line for a managerial gig, writes the Boston Globe.
o. The Orioles and Tigers have postponed their Thursday game because of rain and will play a single-admission doubleheader on Friday, beginning at 4:35 p.m. ET.
o. Three minor leaguers were suspended 50 games each after testing positive for performance-enhancing substances. Drawing bans were: Cardinals shortstop Lainer Bueno, Angels outfielder Reynaldo Ruiz and Orioles shortstop Alfredo Zambrano.
