Trevor Gretzky, Wayne Gretzky's Son, to Play Baseball at San Diego State

Trevor Gretzky, the son of hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, has committed to play baseball at San Diego State next year.

The first baseman hit .341 with two home runs and 33 RBIs last spring at Westlake Village Oaks Christian High. He'll be joining a team coached by Tony Gwynn, the MLB legend who it was revealed earlier this month was battling cancer. Gwynn has said he'll continue to coach the team. San Diego State is also the school that produced former super-prospect and current Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg.

Gretzky also played quarterback for the Westlake Village Oaks Christian High football team, where he was joined by other children of celebrities -- Nick Montana, the son of NFL legend Joe Montana, and Trey Smith, the son of actor and musician Will Smith.

It's believed that USC baseball made a push to get Gretzky. The early signing period is Nov. 10-17.
