MIAMI -- The
Heat went about their practice the day after their tough loss to the
Indiana Pacers and on the eve of another showdown on the road against the
Orlando Magic, who will be eager to avenge their previous blowout loss to the Heat. Though the team began playing better with
Zydrunas Ilgauskas replacing an ineffective
Joel Anthony in the starting lineup, the team clearly felt the need to tinker with the roster as they quickly shed
Jerry Stackhouse and added more bulk in
Erick Dampier. But the real work at Tuesday's practice was to try and attempt to put the loss behind them mentally and get back on track.
"Today was about reconnection," described
Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra after practice. "Reconnecting with our identity and getting back to work. We know no other way then to get in here, sweat and grind a bit, push and get back to the fundamentals of our game.
"The second part of it was to reconnect with each other while we're going through some adverse times where we did not play well last night. None of us felt good about the game. We are much better than that and that's why we came in here today and got some work done."
