If this was the 1970's and the present technology had existed then, the Raiders-Steelers matchup would have been viewed everywhere because over thirty years ago their games against each other were legendary. The intensity was so thick that it could be felt through the television -- and through a smartphone. It's safe to say that if it wasn't for the Steelers, the Raiders would have been the team of that decade.Out of the four consecutive postseason contests in the 70's, the Raiders only won once against the Steelers and between them, they combined for four Super Bowls during that span.
That was a little history lesson for the youngsters so let's speed up to 2010 where Pittsburgh (6-3) has continued to stay a contender for the league championship, while the Raiders (5-4) are finally contending for the AFC West. Both teams are tied at the top of their divisions, but the Raiders are in first place due to the tie-breaker they have over the Chiefs.
Oakland controls the all-time series at 10-8 and defeated Steelers at Heinz Field last season 27-24 on Dec. 6. The Raiders are coming off a bye week healthy, loaded with confidence and riding a three-game winning streak. However, the Raiders are 1-3 on the road, but those three losses came at the beginning of the season in their first three trips away from the Oakland Coliseum.
