Two-Game Stretch is the Key to Fresno State's WAC Title Hopes

Fresno State coach Pat Hill knows the next two weeks will tell him a lot about his team.

The Bulldogs face Nevada on Saturday and No. 4 Boise State the next in one of the unluckiest back-to-back draws on the Western Athletic Conference schedule.

Fresno State is in the hunt for the WAC title. It's 4-1 in WAC with its only conference loss to Hawaii. If it were to pull off an upset against Nevada, it would likely be playing the Broncos for the title.

"I think they understand where they need to be," Hill said. "The last three weeks we've played well enough to win, but we haven't played at the level of execution in all phases for four quarters that we really need to. So, I think they understand the picture that's ahead of them. It's finally time to go and I think they're really looking forward to it."

But upsetting Nevada is easier said than done. The Bulldogs have been blown out each of the last two contests, including a 52-14 loss a year ago. That loss was especially disheartening because the Bulldogs came into the game with one conference loss and a five-game winning streak. Similar to this season, they had aspirations of winning the WAC title, but those were quickly dashed after Nevada turned a 14-10 Fresno State first-quarter lead into a blowout.
