Chivas USA Starting Over Again As It Fires Coach Martin Vasquez

After a turbulent 2010 season that ended with a last place finish in the Western Conference, Chivas USA has fired first-year head coach Martín Vásquez. The Wednesday announcement came just four days after the Goats' regular season finale, a 4-1 loss home loss the Chicago Fire.

The decision to release Vásquez will come as no surprise to most of the team's supporters. Chivas USA finished the season with a dismal of 8-18-4 record and failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2005, the club's inaugural year. The Goats posted poor numbers across the board, including just two road wins (tied for worst in MLS), seven losses at home (second-worst), and 31 goals scored (second-worst).

Chivas failed to win back-to-back games at any point this year, and slumped to the finish line with six losses in its final seven games.
