BALTIMORE -- In this, the season of Michael Vick's oft-debated redemption, it's now clear that Ben Roethlisberger hasn't nearly gotten his due as one of the most aggravating, polarizing, priorities-challenging athletes in all of sports, much less the NFL.
Watch what he did to the Baltimore Ravens Sunday night at M&T Bank Stadium. He led his Steelers to a season-defining 13-10 come-from-behind win, with a right foot that was either broken or sprained but definitely was heavily taped and medicated, and, from the first series on, also with a broken nose.
Watch how as the game wore on, he found the adrenaline, then the mobility, then the will to keep his team lurching toward the end zone, even while teammates were being helped off the field seemingly every other snap and while the Ravens' defenders kept crashing into him and everyone not wearing purple.
Watch how, when given one final chance at the end, thanks to Troy Polamalu and Lamar Woodley, Roethlisberger liberated himself from imminent danger one final time against his game-long nemesis, Terrell Suggs, then two plays later found a backup running back, of all people, to catch his last pass and bum-rush his way into the end zone for the Steelers' only touchdown and the game-winning points with 2:51 left -- as well as a one-game AFC North lead with four games to go.
